Advanced Sailing

If you're an experienced sailor (kid or adult) who wants to get into single handed sailing, you'll get the right challenge via Shoreline’s Advanced Sailing course, which gets you started on Laser (Olympic-class) sailing.

This 4-hour per day, 2-day course introduces the laser - a single handed planing hull with simple controls for advanced technique.

Topics include: Advanced Sail Trim, Beach Landings, Hull Dynamics, Aerodynamics, Self-Rescue, and Dry Capsizing. Students will receive hands-on feedback and work towards earning a light and heavy wind US Sailing Certification.

Prerequisites: For Laser Courses, all participants must be qualified to rent a sailboat (i.e., have a Capri rental card), and registration is limited to advanced sailors.s.

Appropriate for ages 14 and up, this course offers something for everyone wanting to become a proficient sailor.

Certification Options

Completion of Advanced Sailing awards a rental card which allows you to rent the Lasers on Shoreline Lake. For individuals already holding a valid rental card for other models of sailboat on Shoreline Lake (such as for the Catalina Capri 14.2 or RS Zest), your card will be reissued with the addition of the Laser qualification.
