Advanced Windsurfing
Learn how to windsurf in a bigger breeze, take on beachstarting and sail across the water in stronger conditions!
This course will show you how to refine your skills on high performance equipment, teaching the techniques that help you stay in control while taking on bigger challenges, to keep advancing in this dynamic sport.
The course includes all necessary equipment, including a wetsuit (and a textbook, if applicable). Besides our certified instructors helping you be ready to get into the harness and footstraps, you’ll also learn about advanced equipment selection and tuning, advanced self-rescue, fast (shortboard) tacks, and pivot jibes.
You'll learn the following skills:
- Using a Harness, Advanced Safety & Self-Rescue
- Handling of a Performance Board in High Wind Conditions
- Equipment – Choosing the Right High Performance Gear
- High Wind Handling – Carve Step Jibing, Jumping, Looping
- Beach Launching, Fast Tacks, Backwind Sailing, and more
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Intermediate Windsurfing course (or its equivalent). Students must be comfortable swimming and treading water.
Types of Classes:
We offer windsurfing courses for all levels of windsurfers. Whether it's your first time trying to stand on a board, or you're picking up some new skills after years of windsurfing, we have a class to fit your needs.
The group windsurfing classes on weekends are appropriate for ages 14 and up.
If you're interested, though, in sharpening your skills via private lessons, we offer those as well.
What to Bring
Students should bring comfortable clothes, a bathing suit to wear under the wetsuit, a jacket or fleece, a towel, lots of sun protection, a lanyard to secure their glasses around their heads, a reusable water bottle, and shoes or sandals that can be worn in the water (such as water shoes/aqua socks or Keen sandals).
