Introductory Windsurfing

You’ve watched those boards sail on the Bay, seen those amazing pictures on magazine covers, and dreamed about doing it yourself… Now you’re ready to try, and with our certified instructors to help you get started, you can learn to windsurf in a weekend!

In this Introductory (Level I) Windsurfing course, an outstanding curriculum, plus the use of land simulators, make learning the necessary skills to enjoy getting around the lake much easier. In other words, students will be up and shooting across the water in a matter of hours regardless of age, strength, and size.

Tacking (turning), rigging, nomenclature, self-rescue, water safety, and a myriad of other topics will be covered as students earn their certifications. After class, students will be ready to rent the equipment and practice their new skills!

Prerequisites: Students must be comfortable swimming and treading water.

Types of Classes:

We offer windsurfing courses for all levels of windsurfers. Whether it's your first time trying to stand on a board, or you're picking up some new skills after years of windsurfing, we have a class to fit your needs.

The group windsurfing classes on weekends are appropriate for ages 14 and up.

If you're interested, though, in sharpening your skills via private lessons, we offer those as well.

What to Bring

Students should bring comfortable clothes, a bathing suit to wear under the wetsuit, a jacket or fleece, a towel, lots of sun protection, a lanyard to secure their glasses around their heads, a reusable water bottle, and shoes or sandals that can be worn in the water (such as water shoes/aqua socks or Keen sandals).

Important: Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your class to check in.
