Racing at Shoreline

Racing is an exciting way for developing sailors to progress their skills in a fun and competitive environment.

Shoreline Lake's “Intro to Racing” clinic provides an opportunity to learn the basic principles of sailboat racing and put those skills into practice on the water.

Completing this clinic will provide the knowledge necessary to participate in races hosted by Shoreline and the Fremont Sailing Club.

Prospective racers are highly recommended to complete Intermediate Sailing and must be able to comfortably single-hand a dinghy in moderate to heavy wind.

Prerequisites: Completed adult Intermediate Sailing class -OR- 14+ years of age. Capable of single-handing in 12+ knots. Valid rental card.

You'll learn the following skills:
  • Mark rules

Fremont Sailing Club

Shoreline Lake is also the site for Sunday regattas during the racing season (which starts in April, and runs through September). The Fremont Sailing Club organizes and hosts these races, and actively seeks participants to skipper, crew, etc.

Races start with a Skippers meeting at 10:30am and typically include three or more races per day, depending on lake conditions. More in-depth information can be found on the Clubs & Racing page, as well as the FSC’s website.
